Pet First Aid Certification Course ~

This certification course is offered via online training only through E-Training For Dogs and is worth 9 CEU credits with the CCPDT. The course involves six 90 minute segments of online ondemand instruction that allows students to work through the course material at their own pfa dogpace. The course is designed to give the pet lover and pet care professional the necessary information and skills to stabilize an injured animal until qualified veterinarian care is accessed. Emphasis is placed on the prevention of illness and injury, the importance of early veterinary care and the appropriate restraining of an injured animal. There is significant hands-on trainingpfa kit and the course covers a wide variety of topics including poisoning, medical conditions, CPR, AR, choking, wounds, bleeding, shock, bandaging, first aid kit contents and herbal remedies. The textbook utilized throughout the course is: The First Aid Companion for Dogs and Cats by Amy D. Shojai published by Rodale in their Prevention for Pets series. The textbook will be augmented with the provision to each student of videos demonstrating a variety of hands on skills. Herbal and Aromatherapy Introductory Course ~

This course is offered via online training only through E-Training For Dogs and involves 8 hours of instruction in the ondemandherb bunch format. Participants will learn about the qualities of herbs – what they look, smell and taste like; what parts of the plant have healing properties; contraindications and precautions when using herbal remedies; the most beneficial form of each herbal remedy including learning how to prepare dried herbs, powders, teas, infusions and compresses. Students will learn how to use herbal remedies to provide solutions for common ailments – behavioural issues such as anxiety, nervousness and fear; digestive upset including nausea, flatulence, constipation, impacted anal glands and diarrhea; parasite problems; lesions of the skin. Participants will also learn how to use herbal remedies to help elderly animals cope with the infirmities of old age such as arthritis, cataracts, dental issues, heart disease, kidney disease and incontinence. Participants will also learn about the qualities of aromatherapy oils, blending of aromatherapy oils, what are carrier oils and how to use them, contraindications and precautions with the use of aromatherapy.  For online program information including fees and the registration process please contact E-Training For Dogs at
